Citra, Florida defensive lineman Jordan Woods recently took his official visit to Georgia Tech. Monday he called the Tech coaches to let them know of his college decision.

“I called the coaches to let them know that I was making my commitment to them.” Woods knew following his visit that Tech was where he wanted to be. ‘I told Coach (Ted) Roof, Coach (Mike) Pelton, Coach (Lamar) Owens, and Coach (Paul) Johnson on the 17th that I wanted to commit but that I wanted to go home and think it through one last time.” Woods announced his decision on Twitter not wanting to hold it in any longer. "God led me to this decision and it was time to announce it."

Coach Paul Johnson welcomed Jordan to the family and let him know that he made a great choice. “Coach Johnson said I was the perfect fit for Tech, Coach Owens said he was proud of me." Coach Roof and Coach Pelton are both anxious to get Jordan on campus to work with him. "Both Coach Roof and Coach Pelton let me know they are ready to work with me.”

Tech is looking at Jordan filling three roles on defensive. “I will primarily be a rush defensive end and I’ll drop back to linebacker in passing situations.” Woods can also move inside if needed.

The academics at Tech was the ultimate reason for Jordan’s decision. “I see what a degree can get a Tech graduate and I’m not afraid of hard work.” Jordan also took notice of the recruiting class and wanted to join them.” Jordan has already formed friendships with members of the class.

If Miami and Tennessee continue to call, Jordan will be telling them that it’s not going to happen. “I let Coach (Butch) Jones and Coach (Mark) Richt that Tech was the place for me.” The decision was a relief for Jordan. He can now enjoy his time until signing day.

Jordan’s parents shared his enthusiasm for the decision he made. “They know I want to get a great education and play at a high caliber football program. Georgia Tech is the place that offers the best combination.”

Now that he has reached his decision, Jordan will be helping to contact the remaining Tech targets. “Chris Martin did a good job of showing me what Tech can offer and I will do the same with the recruits I know.”
