Georgia Tech picks up Monster FB Commit

Mike Cox of Pennsylvania is heading to the Peach State. At 6-2 and 248 pounds, he is a load at Fullback.

Georgia Tech has picked up a big, bruising running back from the state of Pennsylvania. Mike Cox of Red Land High School has made a commitment to play for the Yellow Jackets.

"I committed to Coach Gailey last night," said Cox. "One of the main reasons I committed to Georgia Tech was because he said I could run the ball. Most of the other schools I talked to wanted me pretty much as a blocking back. I had early offers from Tech, Boston College, and Temple. A lot of schools said they wanted to see my first scrimmage and make sure my shoulder was healed before they offered me, and that was one of the things I liked about Tech, they stuck by me through my injury."

Cox missed four games last year after separating his shoulder, but he made it back to play the last two games with a harness. Tough? I don't think we have to ask that question any more. Cox is working on getting his bench press back over 300 pounds since the injury, but he has still been busy in the weight room with a 615 pound squat. He plays linebacker on defense as well, and at 6-2 and 248 pounds with a 4.78 forty, it would not be totally shocking to see him on the defensive line on the next level. Right now though, he has his sites set on running the ball, and that is where he is going to get his first shot. Top Stories
