Georgia Tech, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Kentucky have already offered Yusef. He is also drawing interest from schools like Auburn, Duke, and North Carolina.” I feel my recruitment is going well.”

Corker recently took his first Junior Day visit to Georgia Tech. “The visit made me feel comfortable with the other recruits, the current players, and the coaches.” Corker felt good about the way the recruits and their families were treated on the visit.

Yusef spent most of his time with Coach Joe Speed. He is both the position coach and the recruiting coach for Corker. The two talked about the Tech defensive scheme and how Tech cross-trains their defensive backs to play all the positions in the secondary. “Coach Speed feels I could play any of the secondary positions.”

Coach Paul Johnson also spent time with Yusef. “He said I was one of the top recruits he was looking at for the cornerback position.” The two also talked about the value of a Tech degree and the players Tech has put in the NFL. “It’s nice to know their degree can give you a good life if you don’t make it in the NFL.”

Getting to see the campus and talking with the players and coaches were the highlights of the day for Yusef. Yusef was impressed with how the players and coaches interacted with each other. “You can tell they have great chemistry.”

Tech had already offered Yusef prior to the visit. The coaches reassured Yusef that he was a priority at corner and that they wanted to see him in a Tech uniform.

Look for Corker to return to Tech in the spring to watch the team practice. Yusef also has planned other Junior Day visits. “I’ll be going to Wake Forest, Clemson, Kentucky, and Mississippi State.” Corker is not sure what practices or spring games he’ll attend.

Yusef knows that most recruits mention education when talking about what will factor into their decision but that is definitely it for him. “I want to get my degree so I’ll be set in case of injury.” The chemistry between the players and coaches will also be an important factor.

Look for Yusef to make a summer decision.
