Florence, Alabama junior safety J‘Marick Woods continues to add schools to his offer list. One of the latest offers for Woods comes from a school that has experienced success recruiting the state of Alabama.

The offer came from Georgia Tech and Coach Mike Pelton. “Coach Pelton said that Coach (Paul) Johnson really liked my film. He liked how aggressively I play safety.” Woods will be a high priority for Tech. J’Marick sees a chance to come in and play early.

Besides getting an offer from Tech, J’Marick was also invited to visit the campus. “Coach Pelton wants to show me the campus and show me what Tech is all about.” Woods wants to major in sports management and the visit would give him a chance to see how he could achieve that degree. The visit to Tech would likely be for their spring game. “Coach Pelton wants me to spend the night Friday and then observe the players on Saturday. Coach Pelton has me excited about Tech.”

The offer from Tech gives Woods double-digit offers. That total should grow as he goes further into his recruitment. Duke is another of the schools that is going hard after Woods. He recently visited them for their Junior Day. Florida is a third school showing strong in J’Marick.

Woods would like to visit some of the other schools that have offered him but distance is a factor. “I’ll be at the mercy of my parents’ or my coach’s schedule if I really want to visit a school. Wood’s parents are heavily involved in his recruitment. “They want me to succeed in the classroom and on the field.” They will give their input on each school to J’Marick and will support whatever decision he makes.

When he begins taking his visits, Woods will be looking for the school that gives him the best opportunity to get a meaningful degree. He’ll also be looking for a school that is not afraid to play freshmen if they earn the playing time. “I want to have coaches that will help me with life after football. You know, make sure you are doing what it takes to get to a great position in the business world.”

Woods plans to be an early enrollee. He has already taken the necessary steps to do that. He plans to make his decision before his senior season or right after it ends. “I won’t make it during the season. I don’t want to take away from my teammates and myself from having the best season possible." Top Stories
