Profile - B.J. Sharpe
Southwest Macon High School defensive end B.J. Sharpe has four early offers. With schools planning to watch his spring practices, look for B.J.’s offer list to grow this spring.Sharpe leads a defense that he hopes can bring a title to Macon after a long drought.
Sharpe is not discouraged that he only has four offers. “I’ve had a lot of schools showing interest and telling me that they are coming down for my spring practice.” Georgia Tech Coach Andy McCollum is one of the coaches that has talked to Sharpe to let him know that he and defensive line coach Mike Pelton would be coming to Macon to watch him practice.
Sharpe was recently in Atlanta for the Tech spring game. He talked to both Coach McCollum and Coach Pelton on the visit. “Coach Pelton told me that he likes my build. He feels that besides playing defensive end, I could put on some good muscle and move inside on certain downs and distances.” B.J. loves what he’s been hearing from both coaches.
An offer from Tech would put them in a good place with B.J. “Tech is a great school with a great football program.” B.J. plans to make a return visit to Tech this summer to watch or participate in their summer camp. "I just know I’m going back. Tech is a school I really like and I hope they offer."
Tech, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and Purdue are the schools showing Sharpe the most interest. All of those schools plan to watch B.J. practice this spring. “I like the way my recruitment is trending. I feel it’s getting better as each day passes.”
B.J doesn’t have a timetable for making a decision. Sharpe will continue to talk things over with his parents before he makes a decision. “We’ll probably do this as each offer comes in and pray that the process leads me in the right direction.”
Three factors will be instrumental for B.J.in making his decision. On the academic side of things, he’ll be looking for a good business school. Finding a nice campus and a school where he feels at home will also factor into his decision.
