Connor Hansen will return to Georgia Tech this weekend for camp.

Tallahassee (FL) Lawton Chiles High School athlete Connor Hansen is being recruited by most schools as an offensive lineman. Thursday visited one of the schools that may be looking at him on the defensive side of the ball.

Connor was in Atlanta to visit Georgia Tech. The visit was better than Connor expected. “There is so much green space and the facilities there are much nicer than I thought they’d be. They exceeded my expectations.” Connor was especially impressed with the weight room. At 6’3”-325, Connor wants to continue to get stronger and he feels the weight room at Tech would help him achieve that goal. “The players were telling me about John Cena and Roman Reigns (Joe Anoai) of the WWE using the weight room there. I thought that was cool.”

The visit to Tech came about after Tech coaches Ron West and Andy McCollum had stayed in touch with Connor. “Coach West actually saw me and told Coach (Paul) Johnson about me.” The Tech coaches came down for Connor’s spring practice/game and let him know that they would like for him to come to Atlanta for a visit.

Hansen plays both sides of the ball for his high school team. Most of the schools recruiting Connor like him as an offensive lineman but there are a few that feel he could play on either side of the ball. After watching him practice, the Tech coaches will be looking forward to getting another look at him on the defensive side of the ball. “They liked how I moved for a big man and said they might put me on the defensive line.” Connor is on board with that possibility. “Getting on the field is the most important thing to me.”

The coaches have asked Connor to return for their summer camp this weekend. Coach Johnson and his staff plan to run him through both the offensive and defensive drills. The staff will then decide which side of the ball would be the better fit for Connor. Connor would be a nose guard on defense and either a center or guard on offense.

Coach Johnson asked for Connor’s transcripts. They hope to have them cleared for his return visit to camp. This could lead to an offer for Connor. “I hope they do. I’d really like an offer from them.” When asked if he would consider Tech if offered, Connor’s response was “absolutely”. Coach Johnson feels that Connor would be a great fit at Tech and Connor takes that as a huge compliment.

At the present time, Connor has not planned visits to any other schools. He is talking to a few schools about possible visits. “I might be going to Central Florida soon but a date hasn't been set." Top Stories
