Norcross corner Dameon Williams made a return trip to Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon. The visit ended with Williams becoming the fifth commit in the Tech 2017 recruiting class.

Prior to taking the visit, Dameon knew that he was going to commit. “When I got there, I told Coach (Ted) Roof that I was committing.” Dameon made his decision a week ago. “I wanted to commit to Coach Roof and Coach (Paul) Johnson in person and not over the phone” Coach Roof let Dameon know that he was happy to have him on board. Dameon hopes that he’ll be playing in big games once he gets to Tech. “I know I couldn’t have made a better choice.” Dameon looked at all the schools on his list. He knew they were excellent schools. “Tech was just better for me.”

Dameon made the short trip with his mom. Throughout his recruitment, she had let Dameon make his own decisions. Was she happy with his decision? “She let me know that Georgia Tech is the school she wanted to see me attend.” Dameon’s brother attends Morehouse and she will now be close to both of her sons.

The other schools on Dameon’s list have already been notified of his decision. Every one of them wished him the best and told him that they would recruit him again if he changed his mind. “I’m locked in with Tech. My decision is not changing.”

Norcross teammate Jarett Cole was also told about Dameon’s decision. “He super happy that we will be teammates again.” Cole will be playing safety or nickel at Tech this fall. “I’m playing corner so we can be on the field at the same time.”

On previous visits, Dameon and Coach Roof had discussed how Dameon would be used. This was one of the reasons why Dameon liked Tech. “I like Coach Roof a lot and the way he draws up a defensive game plans.” The two will continue their talks when Dameon attends some of the Tech games this season. “He's very good at keeping the communication lines open with me."

The two also talked about Dameon playing a role in helping recruit others to the class. "He said they are recruiting a lot of players in my area and he would like for me to help out where I can. I am more than happy to be a recruiter for my class.” Dameon hopes they can put together another strong class.
