Editor's Note: Subsequent to talking to GoJackets.com Sunday night, Tre decided to not wait any longer to make his decison. Tre will be playing his college ball with his brother at Georgia Tech.
The visits gave Tre and his parents a chance to travel the country getting a clearer picture of the schools recruiting him as well as the towns where they were located. “The visits were very important to me and my parents.” Tre paid close attention to the schools, the campuses, and the students on his visits.
Alabama, Arizona, Georgia Tech, LSU, and USC were the schools that received visits from Swilling. Tre had also hoped to visit Nebraska but will have to wait to see them during the season.
Some of those schools will receive a return visit from Tre. He has begun planning his official visits. Tre plans to take all five of his official visits. “The only school that I know will get one is Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech is a special place in my heart because of my dad playing there."
Tre wouldn’t mind following in his dad’s footsteps. "I would look at it as an honor. Seeing my dad's name on the Georgia Tech Wall of Fame on the stadium facing is so special to me.” Tre feels that he could blaze his own trail if he were to play at Tech. “I know Coach (Ted) Roof will push me to be better than my dad.” Tre has also though about playing with Coach Roof’s son T.D. and the big shoes T.D. would have to fill. “I look at it as another challenge that the two of us could face together if I were to choose Georgia Tech.”
Many of the schools recruiting Tre have begun to pick up defensive back commits but that doesn’t concern Tre. He feels that the competition would elevate his game. Tre knows Georgia Tech has picked up a couple of defensive back commits but they are a school he’s seriously considering. “My dad always said don’t be afraid of competition. Use it to make yourself better.”
In addition to planning his official visits, Tre will also be setting up game day visits to both Georgia Tech and Nebraska. "Other than that, I’m not sure who or when I will take these visits right now."
Tre also plans to watch Tech’s opening game in Ireland. Even though it will be at 6:30 in the morning, Tre plans to be watching the game. “I bet those guys will have a blast. That will be something they will remember the rest of their lives.”
Making his decision is something that Tre doesn’t want to drag on until signing day. He and his brother Bruce Jordan-Swilling would like to make their decisions soon after their senior season is over. “I want to have some down time between the end of the Brother Martin season and signing day."
