Hutch looking hard at Tech

Nashville, TN defensive tackle Ben Hutch accumulated a nice offer list in the spring and summer. The Hillsboro Comp recruit is now making plans to take official visits to a few of those schools.

Hutch is happy with the way his recruitment is proceeding. "I have enjoyed it a lot but I will be honest. The way it has picked up has become something that is hard to handle at times.” Ben is getting calls, texts and social media messages. “Once it is over I know I will appreciate all the time everyone put in to recruiting me and I will be very thankful for everything."

A new school was recently added to Ben’s list when Georgia Tech offered.Picking up an offer from Georgia Tech was special. I have a very good friend committed there in Gentry Bonds and my boy Brandon Adams is on the team” Hutch likes that Tech is playing Adams as a true freshman because that is his goal. Hutch was also impressed with the two recent commits to Tech by the Swilling brothers. “Tech is a team I’m looking at hard."

A visit to Tech this weekend for the Vanderbilt game is a possibility for Ben. He hopes to make the trip with Bonds. “It would be a great game for us. We’d get to see the local school and Gentry is committed to the other school.” The visit will depend on whether or not Bonds has family plans this weekend. “If we can’t go, I will definitely set up a time to go to see another home game."

Ben is still looking at nine schools. "Right now my top teams are Penn State, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Louisville, Memphis, and Missouri.” He also hopes to get offers from Alabama and Oklahoma. Those two schools would round out his top nine. “I haven't heard back from them about an offer. I’m waiting until the end of January or even signing day to make my college choice."

Penn State, Tech, Nebraska, and A&M will most likely get official visits from Ben. “I’m certain that Tech will get a visit and I’ll be at Penn State when they play Maryland.” Ben may also take game day visits to Louisville and Memphis.

Even if he has a great official visit to one of these schools, Ben doesn’t plan to change his planned commit date. "I set my decision date way back and I plan on sticking to my original plans. That way, I can handle my recruitment and not let it interfere with my senior season of football.” Ben may not use his fifth official visit. “We’ll see how things go.” Top Stories
