Mobile, Alabama SS Murphy High School inside linebacker Kendric Haynes has spent most of his time concentrating on his senior season. Now that his season is over, Kendric will turn his attention to his recruitment.
Haynes had a good senior season that ended in the first round of the state playoffs. “It was not the way we wanted it to end. I guess not every team can win the state title."
Earlier in the year, Haynes had narrowed his list to Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Louisville. Kendric has decided that he is going to take a longer look at his recruitment. All three of the aforementioned schools are still in the picture. “I just felt that I may have trimmed the list down too quickly. I want to look at a few other schools and just see which ones will be getting official visits."
Kendric hasn’t talked to any schools yet about dates for those visits. "I want to get with my mom and my dad next week and then decide on which schools I want to take officials to before signing day."
Tech will be the one school that Kendric knows will be getting an official visit. "Coach (Ted) Roof and I have built a good relationship and I want to come in and see how it is for a weekend in Atlanta." Kendric doesn’t feel that Tech is too far away from home. "In fact, it might be the perfect place. It is an equal distance from home and where my dad's family lives.” Kendric feels that Atlanta would be an easy location for all of his family to come see him play if I went to Tech.
There is no doubt in Kendric’s mind which school is recruiting him the hardest. "That is an easy one. Georgia Tech and Coach Roof is really recruiting me hard.” Coach Roof has let Kendric know how much he wants him at Tech and how much he would add to the team. “He has always made me feel like family.
I know when we talk it will always be a good and an easy conversation."
Knowing that he has waited this long to set up his official visits, Kendric feels that it will be December or January before he begins taking them. “Unless I make a decision before then, I may take all of my official visits.”
