Howard first visited Tech when he attended their summer camp. He weighed in at 6’-222 and he ran a 4.5 forty. “The camp is when I noticed Tech and was working even harder to get the offer from Coach (Paul) Johnson.” Howard fell in love with the big play Tech offense.
After viewing his senior film, Georgia Tech offered Howard. The hard work had paid off. Coach Paul Johnson offered Howard while he was visiting for the Virginia game. “I felt that when they offered, I would be switching my commitment from East Carolina to Georgia Tech. It was that easy for me."
Tech Coach Mike Sewak has been handling Howard’s recruitment since January. “He has always been upfront and honest with me.” The message from Coach Sewak to Howard was to be patient and not to give up on him. “He said he would do everything in his power to get me at Georgia Tech.” Howard plans to take his official visit will be in January. “I am so happy and proud. Tech will be getting someone that will work hard and be a team player."
One of the main reasons that Howard switched to Tech was their business school. Howard wants to major in business and he knew that he could get a great degree from Tech. “That really swung my recruitment towards Tech. Coach Sewak made me realize that I will be playing good football and getting one of the best degrees in the country.”
Following the flip, Howard’s parents asked him if he was sure that Tech was the best fit for him. The answer was yes. “They are very happy with my decision and they are supporting my decision."
Howard could come in and play either the B Back or A Back positions at Tech. “I have the frame and speed to handle B Back and I could also play the A-back position.” The Tech coaches are looking for Howard to compete at both positions. “They like how fast I get to the line of scrimmage as well as my vision.” Howard also feels that he’ll be able to excel in catching the ball out of the backfield
