Johnson putting in work on decision

Peachtree Ridge High School (GA) defensive end Joshua Johnson has received five confirmed offers since the start of his senior season. Johnson has already visited one of those schools and he plans to take three more official visits.

Following his final visit on the 27th, Joshua and his family plan to get together to discuss which of the schools he’s visited is the best option. Joshua feels he’s in a position now where his future will be bright.

The 6’5”-250 Johnson is excited that he has started to get attention from some P5 schools. “Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and North Carolina State have started to recruit me hard.”

Joshua felt that at one time Kentucky was recruiting him the hardest. "The coaching staff hasn't decided which way they want to go so I'm not sure if they will offer. Still, they are recruiting me hard.” Joshua will visit Kentucky on the 13th.

Georgia Tech is the one school that has amped up their recruitment of Johnson. “Coach (Ted) Roof says I’ve made tremendous improvement from my junior to my senior season. He says I have a big upside.” Coach Roof invited Joshua to come for an official visit and he will take that visit on the 20th. “The way we talk I feel that once I visit Georgia Tech will extend an offer.”

North Carolina State is one of three schools that Joshua is considering for his final visit on the 27th. Georgia Southern and Mercer are also being considered for that final visit. “I should know after the Tech visit if I will be taking a visit that weekend.”

Johnson has already taken a visit to Connecticut in December and he also visited Samford the weekend of the 6th. Samford is an FCS school and they are not affected by the current dead period.

A school with a great academic resume that graduates their players heads the list of factors that Joshua will be looking at in reaching his decision. “I will look at their football history and the current situation at each school and the scheme that they use on defense.” The final factor for Joshua will be his comfort level with the coaching staff.

His parents are supporting all the decisions that Joshua has made in his recruitment. “They’ll be happy where I’m happy. They know this is my decision and I’m putting in the work."

Joshua is an athletic player that has played multiple positions in high school but he feels that defensive end is his best position. Top Stories
