Doomes up to 12 offers

Allatoona, Georgia combo guard Trey Doomes was offered early on by two local schools. Since then, the 2018 recruit has been receiving national attention and new schools have begun to enter the picture.

Four new schools have begun to show interest in Doomes. Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State are the four. "They told me to get ready to hear a lot from them.” Trey knows that if he continues to hear from new schools, he’ll be busy until he makes his college choice.

Kennesaw was the first school to offer Doomes and they continue to show interest in Trey. “They would love to keep me in-state.”

Wednesday night, Doomes was on campus at Georgia Tech for their game with Florida State. “Coach (Josh) Pastner invited me to come watch them in ACC play." Doomes described the game as one of the best he’s seen. “They completely out-hustled, out ran, and just wanted it more than Florida State.”

Trey was impressed with the play of Josh Okogie, Ben Lammers, and Quinton Stephens. “If they weren’t scoring, they were diving for loose balls or banging the boards for rebounds.” It was clear to Doomes that Tech was a well-coached team. “You can see the players take to Coach Pastner and that speaks volumes of him and his staff."

Coach Pastner stays in touch with Trey as often as he can as does his recruiting coach Darryl LaBarrie. “Together, they are showing me a lot of love and showing me how much they want me. Coach Pastner told me last night that any one of four positions on the floor could have been me Wednesday night."

Even though he is a junior, Trey had given some thought to cutting his list of schools. “For now I am keeping it open. I have an idea of who the main schools are and which ones will probably be the
ones I make a decision from." Moving forward, Trey is approaching his recruitment with an open mind.

Doomes currently has 12 offers and he feels that other schools are close to offering. “This is the reason to keep an open mind. I'd like to feel when I make my decision that I’ll have all the schools that want to offer to choose from."

A decision to sign in November or April has not been made at this time. "A lot will depend on how many offcial visits I can get in this summer.” Doomes plans to take all five officials so that he can learn everything he needs to learn about each school. Trey is looking forward to talking to the players at each school to get their opinion of the school.

When it comes time to make his decision, Trey will be getting input from his parents, high school coach, and AAU coach. He will look to his parents for most of the input. “It will be my decision to make and
I will do it with their guidance."
