Onetime Southern Cal commit Marlon Williams has narrowed his offer list to three schools. The Mobile, Alabama receiver took his final visit to Georgia Tech this past weekend and he is now ready to make his decision.
Tech corner Step Durham hosted Marlon on his visit. “He was a great guy to hang out with. He told me how things are at Tech.” The advice from Step to Marlon was use your resources and do what the coaches ask. “He said Coach (Paul) Johnson and his staff will have my back if I do that.”
As was the case with other recruits, Marlon loved Atlanta. “I bet it’s an electric feeling for a night game. Besides touring the campus and facilities, Marlon and the other recruits got to watch the Jackets great finish in their win over Notre Dame. “You can tell the players like the coach because they were hustling every minute on the floor and the ones on the bench were cheering hard for their teammates to do well."
The coaches let Marlon know that they liked his film. “They told me that to make it to the next level, the NFL looks for a more complete wide receiver. They’re looking for one that excels at blocking as well as route running and catching the ball. That is what they teach their receivers at Tech.”
Williams has his list of favorites cut down to Tech, LSU, and UCF. "Tennessee is trying to get back into the picture but those three schools is a way I want to go.”
The decision was based on how comfortable Marlon felt at the school he chose. He also looked at how the players interacted with one another. Marlon was also looking for a school that would make him stay on top of his academic work. Finally, he was looking for a school where his degree would allow him a chance to land a good job.
Marlon plans to call all three schools and thank them for recruiting him. At that time, he will give his decision to the coach at the school that he selects. “On Wednesday at 9:00 AM Central time, I will
make my decision known to those that are following my recruitment. It is what I wanted to do since I decommitted from Southern Cal."
