Deporess Schletty impressed by campus

Alpharetta, Georgia defensive lineman Deporess Schletty has started to see his recruitment pick up steam. The interest in Deporess has taken him by surprise. This week he received his ninth offer.

Earlier this week Deporess visited one of the schools showing him interest. Schletty was on campus at Georgia Tech. He was hosted by Coach Craig Candeto. “The visit was great, simply amazing.” Deporess was surprised by all the green space.” I was impressed with the campus.” Schletty also got to see the post graduate opportunities at Tech. “I want to do sports video editing. It’s good to know that Georgia Tech is more than just an engineering school and excellent at it too."

Thus far Deporess has played mostly inside on the defensive line at Alpharetta. This coming season, he’ll get a chance to play defensive end as well. “Coach said that if I did pick Tech that I will probably play both inside and outside. The defensive line coach would work with me in both spots to determine which position is the best for not only the team but me. I’m on board with that."

Coach Candeto talked to Deporess about their plans for him moving forward. The coaches will want to see more of him now that he’ll be getting some reps on the outside. “Coach told me not to worry about an offer. A recruit with my ability and my grades will have no trouble getting an offer from Coach (Paul) Johnson.”

Deporess has been invited back for spring practice as well as any of the regular season games. “I may also do the summer camp in June.” Deporess also has plans to take other visits this spring. "This weekend I’m going to Wake Forest and in two weeks I’ll be going to Ball State.” Deporess also plans to work in a visit with Southern Mississippi.

Finding a school where he is comfortable will be the primary factor for Deporess in making his college choice. “I want to have a good relationship with the coaching staff.” The location of the schools recruiting Deporess will not be a factor in his decision. “I know sometimes you have to go away from home.”

A decision from Deporess won’t be made until after his senior season. He plans to use his senior season as a recruiting tool. “In the meantime, I’ll keep grinding and making myself a better person, player, and student."
