JaQuez described the visit as simply amazing. The brothers were greeted by Coach Andy McCollum. “I felt like we had known each other for a long time. I felt at ease and real comfortable.” Jackson also talked to Coach Ted Roof. The Tech coaches like Jackson at either linebacker spot. “That is great with me. I like defense even though I play on both sides of the ball at Peach County.”

The brothers toured the athletic facilities that included the weight room and indoor practice facility. “I loved the indoor facility. Academics were also a part of the visit. They learned about the value of a Tech degree. “A degree from Tech will open many doors after football is over. That is important to me.” The brothers also watched some film and met with Coach Paul Johnson.

Coach McCollum and JaQuez talked about the possibility of a Tech offer. “He told me to be patient. He doesn’t see any reason why one wouldn’t be coming my way.” They also talked about his position coach Ted Roof and his career at Tech. Coach Roof let JaQuez know how much he wants him at Tech.

An offer from Tech would move them to the top of the list for JaQuez. “I wouldn’t say I’d commit to them on the spot but it would put them up there. Before I commit, I want to visit schools and be sure that the school I commit to is the right one.”

JaQuez and Kearis plan to return to Tech for their spring game. Saturday the brothers will be in Statesboro to visit Georgia Southern. This summer they might also visit a camp or two. If the offer comes from Tech, I want to set up an official visit for the summer or early fall. I can’t tell you how much I loved the trip up there today.”

A decision before the end of his senior season or just after the season is planned by JaQuez. I’d like to enjoy my senior season and then lock down my recruiting.” Academics come first on his list of factors in making his college choice. “I already know I want to go through the Business School to get a Sports Management type degree.” The strength of the football program will also enter into his decision. “Finally, the relationship with the coaches is very important. You can tell that by how I feel about Coach McCollum and Coach Roof.”
