Johnson is hoping that some of those schools will offer before the fall. One of the schools that recently offered was Georgia Tech. Andrew was offered by Coach Andy McCollum. “I like him a lot. He’s a good guy and he’s been upfront with me.”
Coach McCollum let Andrew know that they are looking at him as a hybrid outside linebacker and a speed rush defensive end. “I could play standing up or with my hand on the ground.” Andrew is currently 6’2”- 230 lbs. Tech would like to take advantage of Johnson’s size and speed. “I like both positions so that is fine with me.”
Tech may receive a visit from Johnson at one of their spring practices or possibly for the spring game. “I don’t know if I will make both but I will make one or the other.” Andrew has already visited Duke this spring. Andrew and his family will also be getting together to plan some additional spring visits.
Andrew also plans to take some additional visits in the summer and the fall. Schools from the ACC, Big10, Big12, PAC12 and SEC are trying to get visits from Johnson. Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Oregon, and West Virginia are some of those schools.
Don’t look for a favorites list from Andrew until the fall. “My plan is to see which schools offer by the fall and then hopefully choose five schools for my official visits. I will make my decision sometime between the end of my senior season and signing day.”
Education is first and foremost on Andrew’s list of factors for choosing a school. “No matter where I go, I will get my degree.” Andrew hopes to major in Computer Science. He will also be looking for a school that feels like home. “They are probably the two biggest factors for me in choosing a school.”
