Cherry appears close to a decision

Okeechobee, Florida athlete Jajuan Cherry and his brother made the drive north to Atlanta Friday for a two day visit to Georgia Tech. The highlight of the trip for Cherry was getting to watch Tech scrimmage Saturday morning.

The brothers both enjoyed the visit. Jajuan’s younger brother is a math whiz and Tech is high on his list of schools. Coach Craig Candeto greeted the brothers when they arrived and they also talked to Coach Paul Johnson. “He told me that they were taking two A Backs in this recruiting class and he hopes my name will be one of them.” That was news that Jajuan loved hearing.

Following his talk with Coach Johnson, Jajuan talked to A Backs Coach Lamar Owens. “I got nothing but positive vibes coming from him.” Jajuan ended the day with the academic people to discuss his major. “I can go through the business school and work with Emory to get my sports medicine degree.”

Saturday morning the brothers watched the Tech scrimmage. “I loved watching them go through their scrimmage. The coaches really get after it.” Following the scrimmage, Jajuan talked with A Backs Clinton Lynch and Qua Searcy. “They had a lot of great things to say about Georgia Tech. All in all the two days were great."

When we last talked to Cherry he mentioned that he liked playing the nickel. That, however, is not a priority for Cherry. Jajuan wants to get on the field and feels that playing A Back can get him there.

The return visit to Tech cemented them as Cherry’s top school. The visit has him doing a lot of thinking. “"To be honest I almost committed Friday night and again Saturday morning.” Jajuan wants to talk to his parents before he makes that decision. “They know how much I love Georgia Tech. I owe it to them to talk to them and let them know what I want to do.”

Jajuan feels that this weekend was one that will determine his future. “I’ve had a blast the past two days at Georgia Tech. It was just awesome.” The upcoming talk with his parents could lead to a Georgia Tech commit.
