Tech is the right fit for Cole

South Forsyth High School 2017 recruit Evan Cole recently reopened his recruitment after having been committed to UNC-Wilmington. Earlier today Cole made his college choice by committing to Georgia Tech.

After deciding to reopen his recruitment, Cole decided to stop giving interviews in order to avoid any distractions. “To be honest, I didn’t want to do any interviews until I made my commitment.  The recruiting process was becoming hard and I just decided that is was best to not do any interviews.”

Only one school received an official visit from Evan after he reopened his recruitment. That school was North Carolina State. He did, however, take unofficial visits to Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt. “I had visited Georgia Tech many times unofficially. It is only 40 minutes from my house. I knew a lot about the school and the academics they provide. I loved the visits to Georgia Tech”

The decision to commit to Tech came as a result of those visits. Evan felt that each visit went well. “As my recruitment went along, I felt Georgia tech was the right fit for me.  The last visit I made there a couple weeks ago showed me that Georgia Tech would be a great fit for me.”

His connection with the coaching staff and the players also entered into Evan’s decision. “The academics are great and I can get a good degree. I haven’t decided on a major but I will once I reach campus.”

When he decided it was time to make his decision, Evan called Coach Josh Pastner to let him know he was committing. “He liked hearing the news, much like me knowing my recruitment is over.”

Evan will be playing power forward when he arrives at Tech. “I’m 6’9”-230 so I feel that is where I am best suited to play.” Evan feels that he’ll do well in the Coach Pastner system. “The center is out on top of the foul line and that opens it up for forwards and guards to make plays. I think I will do just fine in his system.” Top Stories
