Georgia Tech was the destination for Austin’s visit. Austin made the trip to get a closer look at the academic side of things. Smith made the trip to Tech with his mother. It was her first trip to Tech. “She loved the education that I would receive and she loved the fact that the athletes get internships and I would be able to work in the Atlanta area.  I have to say that is another reason I like Georgia Tech as much as I do.”

Coach Joe Speed hosted Smith on his visit. “He answered all my questions and my mom’s questions and pointed out things about Georgia Tech that makes it a great place to attend college. All the answers I got was to my liking.”

Smith has also talked to Coach Ted Roof about where he would fit in their defense. “He said I would be the 3-technique in a 3 lineman set and a defensive end in a four man.” The Tech coaches feel that Smith has the frame to bulk up and move inside.

As much as he likes Tech, Austin didn’t make a decision on his visit. “I really like Georgia Tech and everything but this is a huge a decision for me and I want to make sure that when I commit it is the right school because I don’t plan on changing my mind unless something really changes at the school I pick.”

Three other schools will get visits from Austin before he makes his decision. They are Virginia, Virginia Tech and Duke. “After those visits, I will come home and start looking at each school I have in my final list and pick one out.” Kentucky will be the fifth school that Austin will consider.

One of the Tech commits has already been in touch with Smith. “JaQuez Jackson DM’s me a lot on Twitter. He really wants a special class to come in this year and he is working me hard.” Austin also stays in touch with Tech defensive end target Nick Fulwider. “We talk about what we are going to do and everything. He likes Tech as much as I do.”

The decision shouldn’t be far off. “I’m almost sure it will be later this month. I can’t see it going any more than early July. More than likely it will be sometime at the end of this month.” Austin is looking forward to making his decision. “The recruiting process has been a bothersome type thing. I’m a laid back and easy going person.”
