Kelly sets time table for decision

Team Loaded, Virginia rising junior Patrick Kelly has begun to draw interest on the Adidas AAU circuit. Monday, Kelly made the trip south to visit one of the schools showing him interest.

Kelly made the trip with his mom and was impressed with what he saw on the visit. Patrick was impressed with the campus and the basketball facilities. “I also really enjoyed the “Power Hour” with Coach Pastner.”

The “Power Hour” had Patrick going through shooting, passing, and cutting drills. “We also ran a lot of offensive schemes.” Coach Josh Pastner had Patrick playing mostly on the wing. “I prefer the wing but being 6’8” or 6’9” I can play the four or even the two.

Shooting is the strength of Kelly’s game. “I consider that the strength of my game followed by driving to cup.” Patrick is working on improving his strength and his quickness.

Coach Pastner talked to Patrick and recruiting and gave him some good advice. “He said he wants to see a lot of my games and he’ll be seeing me play at the Adidas Uprising or Adidas Gauntlet in July. He just told me that he wanted to watch my game.”

At the present time, Patrick has offers from Florida Gulf Coast and Cal-Northridge. “I have a lot of ACC and Pac-12 interest.” An offer from Tech would put them at the top or near the top of his list. “I would consider committing but I am still young so I would give it time. I would hold off until I had more options to compare."

Aside from the visit to Tech, Patrick has also visited North Carolina State and he will be visiting Princeton this coming Sunday. “I would also love to come back to Georgia Tech again.”

Even though Kelly is a 2019 recruit, he already knows when he wants to make his decision. “I want to know where I am going by the end of my junior year so I can have a stress free senior year.” Top Stories
