Georgia Tech adds Offensive Line Commitment

While his commitment may be overshadowed a bit by his high profile teammate, football games are won in the trenches, and Georgia Tech picked up a commitment from a fast rising offensive tackle.

"I committed to Georgia Tech today," said Sandy Creek offensive tackle Andrew Gardner. "The coaches went by Calvin's house (Calvin Johnson) around 4:45 while I was at (basketball) practice, and then they went and got something to eat before they came over to my house. I've always been a Georgia Tech fan. It's always been a dream of mine to play there. I felt like it was a good fit for me with it being so close by to my family and with them having my major. I want to major in Industrial Engineering."

When I bumped into Sandy Creek Head Coach Rodney Walker this fall, he said that Gardner was a player that everyone that came by was very interested in. Gardner ended up having some very good offers before he chose Georgia Tech. He is a basketball player with good feet. He knows he is going to redshirt this year to get bigger and stronger, and he hopes to compete for a starting position during his redshirt freshman year. Top Stories
