Atlanta QB Names Top 5

Eric Ward of Southwest Dekalb is a good looking quarterback prospect for the Class of 2005, and he has named an early Top 5.

Eric Ward helped quarterback his Southwest Dekalb team to the playoffs last year, and he is looking to make another playoff run next season. He is receiving letters from across the country, and he lists a pre-season Top 5.

At 6-2 and 180 pounds with a 4.6 forty, Eric Ward has an excellent frame and quickness for the new breed of mobile quarterbacks. He did damage to his opponents through the air and on the ground last season as he racked up 1,200 yards passing and 300 yards rushing.

"I compare my game to Steve McNair," said Ward. "I try to be a dropback field general that isn't afraid to run with the football."

Ward has been receiving letters from schools as far away as Michigan State and Arizona State, but early in the process he is looking a little closer to home.

"I grew up a Georgia fan, and right now my Top 5 list is Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn, LSU, and FAMU. I went to Georgia/Georgia Tech and Georgia/Vanderbilt for games last season."

Ward is a dual sport athlete that also plays baseball, and he is also a very good student that will have no trouble qualifying.
