Running back prospect Ibrahim (pronounced E-bra-heem) Halsey has set up all five of his official visits, including three trips to Southeastern schools. Halsey, from Elizabeth, New Jersey, will visit Maryland (11-30), Georgia (12-7), Wisconsin (12-14), Georgia Tech (1-11), and Notre Dame (1-18).
"I have really hit it off the with the coaches at both Georgia and Georgia Tech. It was like we made a connection. Maryland is a team that has opened up some eyes and they are a program on the rise.
"The recruiting process has been one of a kind. I know I can only have this opportunity just once so I am trying to really enjoy it. My decision will be based on the coaching staff, tradition, schemes, playing time and academics. That has always been my first priority."
Halsey, 5-10 and 190 pounds, is an extremely versatile running back. This season, he rushed for about 1,500 yards and caught around 600 yards worth of passes (Halsey guessed at his stats but said he was close). Halsey also scored 20 touchdowns.
"I think I have good vision and elusiveness. I can run between the tackles and be a durable back. I have good hands and catch the ball out of the backfield. I can play slot. My game is similar to Marshall Faulk. I can return kicks. I am not the biggest, strongest or the fastest, but I make plays."
Halsey camped this summer at Syracuse and Penn State. He carries a 3.4 grade point average and 830 SAT. His team was ranked 14th in the USA Today High School National Poll. The got upset in the first round of the plays by Rocksbury High School on a last second TD.
