South Hot 100 RB Camps at Tech

Maurice Wells of Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Fla. has the combination of athletic prowess and academic achievement that have put him at the top of several teams' recruiting boards. He has narrowed his list of favorite schools to three, and he checked one of them out this weekend for summer camp.

"I went to Georgia Tech this weekend," said Maurice Wells. "I went up on Friday night for the camp on Saturday. That's the third time I've been to Atlanta. I also came up for their spring game."

"I got to meet a lot of players, but I mostly hung out with Damarius Bilbo. I went out with him on Friday night, and we had a great time. I love the Atlanta night life."

It was more than a recreational trip for Wells though; this was a working camp. Wells not only showed what he could do, but he also gathered more information about one of the schools he is most interested.

"I had a chance to sit down with Coach Gailey and Coach Nix. I had a great conversation with them. Coach Gailey is a great coach, and he is a good person to talk with. At the camp we did agility drills, ran 40's, played some seven on seven. Bilbo was there between sessions, and we talked some more. I love the Tech campus too."

While Georgia Tech was fresh on his mind after the camp, there are still three teams in the running for the talented athlete out of Florida.

"This is the last camp I'm going to this summer, but my favorite teams are still Georgia Tech, Ohio State, and USC."

Wells isn't ready to tip his hand or narrow his list even further, but it's obvious that the Yellow Jackets are right in the thick of it for the South Hot 100 running back. Top Stories
