Here are some exerpt from today's practice report...
4. Andrew Gardner continues to get some rave reviews from some folks I spoke to who hang around the team. I haven't spent a lot of time watching the lines too much yet until they go to full pads but those who know feel he's perhaps our top lineman at this time. And this comes as no surprise really. Andrew was very skilled last year but was just too light to play. He'll be an important part of the success of this year's offense.
11. Freshmen receivers Greg Smith and (especially) Martin Frierson are showing some good potential for down the road. I'm not sure how much they'll get to be used this season but both seem to be solid pickups for the future. Frierson has shown some good ability to get himself open. He even has a few veteran tricks up his sleeve and seems to be somewhat advanced for his age. Today he caught Jahi Word-Daniels off balance on a route and put a hand to his shoulder to make him completely fall off the route. He made himself open by a wide margin on a play that would have picked up a decent amount of yards. It looked clean to me but it was close. Kelly Campbell made it to the NFL by knowing how to properly use his hands getting out of cuts.
