Georgia Tech 13 – Mississippi Valley State 4

Coach Danny Hall used today's game to see which pitchers on the staff are ready for the ACC schedule and which ones aren't. The Yellow Jackets used 8 pitchers including last weekend's starters Lee Hyde and Tim Ladd. David Duncan got the start and win as he was the only pitcher to work more than one inning. Centerfielder Danny Payne closed out the game. The losing pitcher for MVS was an unfamiliar face but a familiar name… Danny Hall!

DH Matt Wieters led the attack with a three run homer and 2 hits. Mike Trapani continued his hot hitting with three more RBI. The Yellow Jacket made use of their bench by substituting freely. Jeff Kindel was one of only two Yellow Jackets to play the entire game (Payne moved from CF to P for the 9th inning) and Russell Harben saw his first action at shortstop.

The Jackets travel to North Carolina State this weekend for a three game set. The word at the park today was that Tim Gustafson will get his first start Saturday and Lee Hyde will be moved back to Sunday. The win moved the Yellow Jackets record to 17-1. They continue to be ranked 1st in three of the five polls.

FACES IN THE CROWD - TE Will Heller and Coach Buddy Geis.
