Top Alabama WR Visits Yellow Jackets

Alabama's top receiver Brandon Gibson ventured outside the state this weekend for an unofficial visit with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Alabama's top receiver Brandon Gibson ventured outside the state this weekend for an unofficial visit.

"I went to Georgia Tech Saturday, and I was real impressed with the campus," said Brandon Gibson from Mobile, (Ala.). "The coaches and people I met all seemed like good people." Gibson spent quality time with the coaching staff as he continued, "I spoke to coach [Chan] Gailey for a little while. I really liked the one-on-one part with the coaching staff. They seem to be very interested in me. There were only four receivers there, and I felt like I was receiving all the attention."

"I talked to coach Buddy Geis for a while. He told me they wanted to get more film on me. I think once they receive the film then I will receive a written offer."

The time in Atlanta was short for USM-Wright's 6-2, 190-pound receiver, but Gibson plans a return visit.

"I really didn't see too much, but I thought the athletic facilities were real nice," he said. "The campus is in the middle of downtown Atlanta. It's crazy over there. I like it. I need to see more of the campus to get a better feel for them though."

Before going to Atlanta the UMS-Wright boys track team won the Mobile County Track and Field Championships Friday night at Theodore High School. Gibson placed first in the triple jump with 47-feet, 10-inches.

Gibson plans to stay home the next couple of weeks to prepare for the Scout.com All-American Combine in Tuscaloosa April 29.
