Tarrant Pulls the Trigger

Carrollton safety Jerrard Tarrant ended his recruitment Thursday when he announced his verbal commitment.

"I made my commitment to Georgia Tech earlier today," said Jerrard Tarrant from Carrollton, (Ga.). "I felt like it was the best time for me to go ahead and commit. I didn't want to risk losing my scholarship if I got hurt."

"I felt like Georgia Tech was the best fit for me."

Tarrant has several reasons for making an early decision.

"I really liked the atmosphere when I went up there," he said. "I talked to a few of their players, and they seemed really cool."

The 6-0, 185-pound safety spoke to one coach this afternoon about his decision.

"I called and talked to coach Joe D'Alessandris," Tarrant said. "He said he was very proud I committed. He said I made the right decision."

When asked if he would take additional visits Tarrant replied, "No I will not. I am 100% committed to Georgia Tech."

Tarrant chose the Yellow Jackets over Auburn, Duke and Vanderbilt.

Tarrant recorded over 50 tackles as a junior and added four interceptions as well.
