Matt Wieters and Jeff Kindel paced the Jacket attack with 3 and 2 hits respectively. One of Wieters three hits was a homerun that landed on the front lawn of the fraternity house across the street from the stadium. Whit Robbins also contributed a homer.
The Jackets batted around in the first inning to erase a 1-0 South Florida lead on there way to scoring 5 runs. A double to right by Kindel extended his hitting streak to 18 games.
Odds and Ends - The rash of injures forced Coach Danny Hall to make changes in the lineup tonight. Brad Feltes filled in for Wes Hodges at third. Hodges has been suffering from a strained calf and was adviced to stay off it. Steven Blackwood returned to the lineup as both the centerfielder and leadoff hitter in Danny Payne's absence. Payne visited the doctor yesterday and may be out until the Miami series or longer.
Lefthanded freshman Jake Sullivan has decided to transfer. Sullivan didn't make any appearances this year and is considering Arkansas and Auburn.
In news that has some significance to the football team, Loyall Gause was in uniform tonight for the first time this season. Gause had been recovering from foot surgery.
The Jackets will play a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 3pm. The possiblility of bad weather Sunday forced the teams to move Sunday's game to Saturday. David Duncan will pitch the first game and John Goodman will start the second game with Matt Wieters scheduled to pitch in relief. This will be Goodman's first start of the year.
