Behind starters David Duncan and John Goodman, the Georgia Tech baseball team swept a doubleheader from the Bulls of South Florida on Saturday afternoon at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Duncan became the second consecutive Jacket to go eight innings in limiting the Bulls to three hits and one unearned run. Chris Hicks pitched the final inning yielding one run.

Jeff Kindel led the Jacket attack with three hits extending his hitting streak to nineteen games. Matt Wieters and Wally Crancer each had two hits. The game marked the debut of Whit Robbins at third base. His play at third reinforced why he is one of our better fielders.

In the nightcap John Goodman got his first career start. He went five innings giving up two runs and two hits. Brad Rulon, Lee Hyde and Matt Wieters following Goodman out of the bullpen. Wieters picked up his fifth save of the year.

Andy Hawranick's two RBIs gave him five for the doubleheader. Michael Fischer, Luke Murton and Whit Robbins each had two hits.

The lastest word on Tim Gustafson is that he might not return until the ACC tournament. Proof of the depth in our bullpen was shown in the second game when six different Jackets were up in the bullpen over the final four innings. Look for Matt Wieters to get the start Wednesday against Georgia at the Ted.
