The Georgia Tech
baseball team had to dig themselves out of a 6-0 hole to defeat Duke
11-8 Saturday night at Russ Chandler Stadium. Going 6.1 innings has been the magic number for Jacket starters in this series. Saturday night it was David Duncan
who picked up the win despite surrendering 7 runs.Jared Hyatt
entered the game in the 7th and pitched the final 2.2 innings to pick up the save.
Michael Trapani and Michael Fischer led the attack with two hits each. Whit Robbins, playing third for the injured Wes Hodges hit his 11th homer of the year. Eight different Jackets contributed hits in the win.
The Jackets go for the sweep at 1pm Sunday. John Goodman is scheduled to get the start. Look for Ryan Turner to pitch in relief following his strong performance against Georgia on Thursday.
Wes Hodges took batting practice but is still not ready to return to the lineup. Coach Danny Hall continues to rotate leadoff hitters depending on whether the starter is a lefty or a righty. Trap is leading off against lefties and Blackwood against righties.
Infielder Russell Harben is no longer with the team. He is rumored to be transferring. His transfer choice is unknown at this time.
