The Georgia Tech baseball team went homer crazy Friday evening as 4 different Jackets pounded out 5 home runs en route to a 14-5 thrashing of the visiting Miami Hurricanes. Jeff Kindel had two and Wally Crancer, Wes Hodges and Steven Blackwood each had one. Crancer's grand slam in the 8-run second inning put the Jackets ahead for good.

Lee Hyde picked up the win with 4.2 innings of relief for starter David Duncan. Jared Hyatt pitched the final 2.2 innings to preserve the win. The win brought Hyde's record to 4-0 for the season.

A vocal crowd of 2,400 attended tonight's game. A small group of fans sitting on the centerfield outer wall led the fans in the yellow - jackets cheer throughout the game. The win clinched the Jacket's finishing no worse than 5th in the standings. A win tomorrow will make Georgia Tech the home team in the 4-5 match up at 4:00 Wednesday.

It doesn't appear that Wes Hodges will be returning to third base anytime in the near future. He was struggling to get around the bases following his 8th inning home run. Ryan Turner will take the mound for the 1pm start Saturday.
