Derrick's visit was full of many activities like checking out Tech's academics, attending players' meetings, visiting the Georgia Dome, hanging out with other players and recruits and eating… a lot. Morgan determined that as far as school goes, "Communications, that's probably going to be my major."
As for Tech and the game Saturday night, Morgan said, "They have a real good team." "They were just one step short of winning. I liked the way the defense played."
Derrick said that he had already set up official visits with his current top 5 schools. "I've got five officials set up", said Morgan. "G-Tech is the first one. I've got Ohio State, Miami, Penn State and NC State. And then Boston College is sort of in the mix."
A decision could come from Derrick not long after the season is over. He wants to wait on making a commit for now but the sense of urgency could be greater as the season gets longer. As for his timing Morgan said, "Probably after the season as early as I can because I'm trying to graduate early to enroll in January."
As for what will factor into his decision, Derrick said that getting a good degree would be a high priority because you never know when you might get hurt and not be able to rely on football anymore. He also sited playing time and how well he gets along with the other players and recruits.
Derrick also had this to say about the Yellow Jackets after his visit: "It's just a real great atmosphere down there. I like the players. The place is real cool. I like Coach (Giff) Smith, the d-line coach, and Coach D (Joe D'Alessandris), he's the guy recruiting me." Tech is recruiting Morgan as a defensive end.
