"We just drove around campus, ran into some of the players and got to meet the coaches," Thompson told GoJackets.com last month describing his first visit to GT. "I talked to the head coach (Chan Gailey). I talked to Coach (Giff) Smith and Coach (John) Bond."
"They took me around campus in a golf cart," said Thompson. "They showed me around. And I want to major in Business Management so they took me to the business facility and showed me around there too."
Friday marked Brandon's second visit. What did he want to do differently on this visit that he didn't get to do last month? "Brought the family," said Thompson. "This was basically for my Mom and my Sister."
Brandon's Mom was the focus of this visit and he thinks she enjoyed what she witnessed. "She liked it, she loved it," said Thompson. "She talked to all of the coaches. She met the entire coaching staff and she got a little tour of the campus. She loved it."
"I just wanted her to get a tour of the place because when she thinks of Georgia Tech, she just sees the big city – Atlanta," said Thompson. "She doesn't see like the little campus it is in itself. And I wanted her to see that as well as meet the coaches."
Brandon said his Mom particularly liked meeting Coach Gailey and Coach Smith.
As for the input she has in Brandon's decision, her opinion does carry some weight. "It's my decision but I love to have her opinion on it and see what she thinks," said Thompson. This was Mom's second school visit. She also accompanied him on a visit to Miami earlier.
Brandon wasn't sure if his Mom had a favorite school just yet but he did name his top 4 schools. "It would have to be [Georgia Tech], Miami, Clemson and Florida State," said Thompson. He wants to first find a good comfort level the school and its coaches and players.
As for a timeframe on when he'd narrow his list or make a decision, that isn't quite as clear at this time. "I'm not sure," said Thompson. "I thought I had a time set but I don't, not really."
As for new people he met on the trip to Atlanta, he got to meet a couple of Tech players with funny nicknames in DE Michael Johnson and WR Demaryius Thomas. "I met the D-end "stretch" and I met "bebe," the receiver," said Thompson.
