Brandon Leslie, a standout defensive back prospect out of Edison High School in Fresno, California, just flew out for an official visit to Georgia Tech for their game against #12 Clemson. The defense shined as Georgia Tech stood the Tigers up 13-3. Leslie, a top prospect on defense for the Yellow Jackets, loved what he saw of the defense. He also had a great time on the trip and saw enough to convince him that Georgia Tech was the right place for him to be.

What did Brandon have to say about his committment and about his visit to Georgia Tech?

"It feels real good to be a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket! I feel relieved. They really showed me a great time this weekend. I really feel it's the right spot for me to be. My host for the weekend was Willie White, the redshirt safety. He was really great. Also, Kyle Jackson, I hung out with him a lot and Jamal Lewis, Djay Jones, Philip Wheeler, Tashard Choice, those guys were really cool. I was also hanging out with the other guys on officials with me: Brandon Thompson and Malcolm Munroe. We all had a good time together. I just talked to Malcolm about five minutes ago about us committing."

What were the main factors in Brandon's decision?

"I got there and the area of the school was just great. It's right there in downtown Atlanta. I was kind of surprised at that. You know, there's so much to do in the area. Also, that game against Clemson. The defense played outstanding. Those two running backs at Clemson are great, but that defense was just amazing. I want to be a part of that D. The people at the school, and the fans, they really showed me a lot of love. The coaches like me and I want to play for them. It really feels like it's the right spot. It felt good to get the commitment out of the way, so I can focus on school now and to help my football team win a championship."

So how close was Brandon in choosing Nebraska?

"I was really close, actually. My cousin plays basketball there. I have another cousin that played quarterback there. He lives in Lincoln and said he would look out for me. But, you know, it was just all about how I felt about the team, how comfortable I was with the school, and the depth chart. And you know, academic wise, Georgia Tech really impressed me with that. They have the study halls, the tutors, and the really stay on top of their student athletes. That's the thing about Georgia Tech. Their players aren't just great players on the field, they're great people off the field, too. They're not getting in to trouble. They're just good people to be around."

How does Leslie feel about Coach Gailey?

"You know, he liked me a lot. We spoke for awhile one on one. He's a great guy. He's really mellow, kind of seems like he doesn't talk much. But the things he did say to me, I have a lot of respect for him. I think he's a great coach. He's someone I really want to play for, and now I'm on my way to."

What are the coaches plans for how to use Brandon at Tech?

"It probably depends on how much weight I gain and stuff like that. I could play safety or corner either way. Right now I can cover, you know, but I'll play wherever they need me. They said they can see me out there right next to number 1, Morgan Burnett, that'd we'd be a good duo back there as safeties."

How is he playing so far this season?

"I'm feeling great. I'm playing well, I don't know my official stats or anything but our team is 4-0 and really playing great. Our defense is solid all around. We're allowing something like 1.4 yards per rush. Our lines on offense and defense are really strong this year. We've been controlling the games this season and we're looking to do some big things this year."

Brandon's message to the Yellow Jacket Nation: "I'm ready to come and add a little California flavor to Georgia Tech!"
