Richard, how was your official visit to Georgia Tech this weekend?
"I had a really great time and the visit was very good. I enjoyed it a lot."
Did this visit cement your commitment to Georgia Tech?
"To be honest, I never wanted to change from my commitment to Georgia Tech especially after meeting Coach Johnson. I knew I wanted to play at Georgia Tech and for Coach Johnson."
Who was your player host for the visit?
"Jonathan Dwyer was my host. We kind of got to know one another back during the summer, so we hit it off really well. He's a cool guy and I like him a lot."
Who else did you meet there this weekend?
"I met all the new coaches and got to know my position coach real well. Coach Bohannon is a real smart coach. He knows what he is doing and he is extremely excited about the upcoming season. He was so excited that it even rubbed off on me. I can tell by talking with him that he definitely knows what he is doing and I am excited to learn from him this fall and for the next four years. He told me that I had a chance to play right away, that it was up to me to take hold of it and make it mine. He told me to work hard and take the opportunity and make the best of it."
How was the rest of the trip?
"Man, we ate a lot of food. We went to some great places. Friday, we went to Fox Sports Grill and Capitol City Grill, I liked that one a lot. On Saturday, we went to ESPN Zone for lunch and had dinner at Fogo de Chão where I had some Brazilian food."
What was the highlight of your trip?
"Meeting all the new coaches and meeting my future teammates and most importantly, this trip made me feel real comfortable with the whole Georgia Tech experience. This trip made me feel part of the family a real good bond with coaches and players."
So, next on your agenda is signing your LOI and getting to Georgia Tech, correct?
"Yes sir, I will report in June and get ready for summer workouts and classes. I am extremely excited about coming to Georgia Tech and really excited about the upcoming season. I think we will surprise people and be a real good team."
After talking with Richard for about the fourth of fifth time, you just get this feeling that he is more than just a great football player; he is a great person too. He carries himself well and is a joy to talk to on the phone and I imagine even better in person. Georgia Tech is getting a total person to add to their Total Person Concept.
