Curtis Drake is a talented quarterback from West Catholic High School in Pennsylvania. He is looking at a number of schools early in his recruiting process and has two early and clear favorites. Curtis spoke with Scout.com about his list of schools and what he is looking for in a college.

Curtis, what are your measuables?

"I am 6 foot tall and weigh 170 pounds. I have a forty time of 4.49."

Have you made any visits to any schools since the beginning of the year?

"I went to Junior Days at Penn State and Pittsburgh. Both were very good trips."

What schools are recruiting you right now?

"Penn State, Minnesota, Purdue, Syracuse and Maryland are the ones that I hear from the most. Those I feel are the ones recruiting me the hardest right now."

Do you have a favorite?

"I have two schools that I am really high on. I like Penn State a lot and I am very high on Georgia Tech. I have sent them my highlight tape and I am anxious to hear back from them. I have always liked them and the fact that Coach Johnson is there and has installed his option offense, it makes them much more attractive to me. I like the option style offense a lot."

Have you set up a visit to possibly see a practice at Georgia Tech?

"My coach told me and two other teammates of mine that he would take us to a school of our choice to see them in the summer. I told Coach that I wanted to travel down to Georgia Tech and see them and tour the school."

Have you set up anything else for the summer?

"I will go to the Penn State Senior Camp and hope to go the summer camp at West Virginia. I am going to a combine in the summer that is in West Virginia too. First off though, I will be attending the Nike Camp in Baltimore on April 14th."

If you had to choose five schools for official visits right now, which ones would those five be?

"I know I will take official visits to Georgia Tech, Penn State, West Virginia, and Illinois. The fifth school would be up in the air, possibly Oregon."

When it comes time to make your decision, what will your factors in making that decision?

"First off, I want to major in Architecture or Business and I want to choose a school that has a strong program in either one. I prefer to major in Architecture though. Also, the style of offense will be a big factor. If they run the option offense, that is a big plus. Another thing is that I want to get to a warm weather school too and I want to get away and experience life away from home. I want to broaden my experiences in life."

Are you looking to make a quick decision or use your visits and then make a decision?

"At first I felt I would make an early decision before my senior year started, but now after giving it some deep thought, I will wait until I make my visits and then decide. I want to make the best choice and not an quick and uninformed one."

Do you think there is a possibility that if you get to a school and the visit is off the chart, you could say this is the school for me?

"I think I could. I know I have been real high on Georgia Tech and if that visit was better than I expected it to be, I could commit to them. Still, I feel I will make all my visits and then decide."

How about your parents, do they support your desire to get away?

Yes sir they do, my Mom and Step-Dad (he's been there since Curtis was four) have told me that they want the best for me, especially when it comes to an education. My Mom says she'll miss me but she wants me to be happy and wants me to go where I feel the most comfortable."

How about you senior year, how does that shape up for you?

Well, this is the first year we have been in the PIAA after competing in the Catholic League all my years of high school. We won the Catholic League the past two years and we are looking to carry that on to the PIAA and win the state championship. We lost 2 linebackers and 2 lineman but we have filled those gaps with very good players. As a team we feel we will be very strong."

What are your best traits as a player?

"I have been a quarterback for ten years now and I feel that leadership is one my best traits. I don't get rattled easy and I can keep my composure under pressure. I run the option very well. I can run and pass with no problem."

What would you like to work on before heading off to college?

I'd like to improve my passing game. No matter how good your think you are at passing, you can always improve yourself. In fact when you called, I just walked in the door from working with my coach on some passing drills. We worked on my mechanics and other drills."

Have your teammates given you a nickname?

"Not really as I have always been know as "Drake". On all the teams I've played on or just my friends talking to me, "Drake" is what I have always been called"

Dale's Take:
Curtis was an awesome interview. He knows what he wants and he is working hard to get where he wants to be. He has two schools that are his favorites and it seems that one of those two might be ahead of the other one.
