With the completion of the quarterback interviews, we at GoJackets.com will now focus our attention on wide receivers for our 2009 Georgia Tech recruiting preview.
The equation for the wide receiver position is going through some changes with the new offense being installed at Georgia Tech
for the coming season. Players like Rolando Jefferson
and Jamal Patterson
that we were hearing about early on may no longer be in that equation. At the same time, you have a top receiver in the state, like Braxton Lane
, who is waiting to see what the offense looks like before he makes a decision about Tech. Jason Griffin
from Jonesboro and Lane from Sandy Creek were both guests of Paul Johnson
and his staff at the February junior elite day. This week, we'll take a look at five receivers from the state of Georgia.
Jamal Patterson – 6'2" – 188 from Henry County H.S. Patterson has been on the SEC and ACC circuit visiting and picking up offers since the first of the year.
Marlon Anthony – 6'5" – 185 from Kell H.S. Anthony has Auburn as his favorite but is receiving a lot of interest from Georgia Tech.
Brady Brown – 6'5" – 205 from Argyle Secondary School in Argyle, Texas. Brown attended camp at Tech last summer.
Kevin Burke – 6'4" – 180 from Stockbridge H.S.
Jason Griffin – 6'2" – 180 from Jonesboro H.S. Louisville is the early leader for Griffin.
Mardrecas Hood - 6'3" – 180 from Pickens County H.S. in Alabama. Hood has an early offer from Alabama.
Braxton Lane – 5'10" – 190 from Sandy Creek H.S. Lane has picked up 5 early offers since visiting Tech for elite junior day. He could also be used as an A back.
Rico Mack – 5'10" – 160 from North Cobb H.S. Mack wants to stay close to home and like Tech. He can also be used as an A back.
Shaquan Murphy – 6'2" – 175 from Blue Ridge H.S. in Greer, S.C. Murphy can also play QB.
Arthur Williams – 6'2" – 175 from Glenwood School in Smiths, Alabama. Williams has offers from Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech.
Chris Smith – 6'0" – 180 from Meridian H.S. in Mississippi. Smith has an early offer from Mississippi State.
