David, what are your measurables?
"I am 5' 11" and weigh 192 pounds. My best time in the forty has been 4.31."
I understand you took a couple of visits this weekend?
"Yes I did. I went to Clemson for a practice and to Georgia Tech to watch the scrimmage.
How did the Clemson visit go?
"It went real well. I like the offense they run. The area is real nice and they have a very good history. It was a real good trip, I enjoyed it a lot. I liked what I saw of the school and the area around the school. The coaches are very good."
How about the trip to Georgia Tech?
"It was an excellent visit. I really enjoyed watching the offense. Georgia Tech and my high school are both adjusting to running the triple option as new offenses. I got a chance to talk to Coach Johnson and Coach Sewak (recruiting coach) while I was there. I liked them both very much."
What offers do you have on the table right now?
Would you have a favorite out of that group?
"No sir, not right now. I am looking at all schools to see how they stack up against one another with what I want from a school."
What are you looking for in a school?
"The school I will go to will be the one that fits these criteria the best. First, I want a school with good coaching stability. Also, how I will fit into the offense is important. Is it one that I like a lot? Will the team have tremendous depth at my position or not? Next, the strength of the program is important too. I want to go to a program that is strong and is doing real well. Lastly, the history of the school is important too. Is the tradition of the school very good?"
Do you have time frame as to when a decision will be made?
No sir not a real set time frame other than I'd like to have one made before my senior year starts. With my coach installing a new offense, I'd like to have as few distractions as I can so I can be the best I can in my last year."
Do you have anymore spring visits lined up?
"I'm not real sure. I have a lot of track meets. I will have to work in any visit around those meets if I did decide to go to any other schools."
How about summer camps or combines? Will you attend any?
"No sir. I doubt that I will go to any. I will be in the Junior Olympics in track and field events being held in Poland this summer. I seriously doubt that I will be going to any camps this summer."
What events do you run?
Outdoors I run the 100, 200, 4 X100, triple jump, high jump, and long jump. Indoors I was first in the nation in the triple jump. I enjoy track almost as much as football."
How does your high school team shape up for your last season?
"I'm not sure how we will do. We are installing a new offense and we'll be breaking in a brand new quarterback. Our starter from last year was a senior and we really didn't have a second string quarterback. We'll have a completely new quarterback to go with a totally different offense."
How about you as a player? What do you feel are your best traits?
"I feel I am an all-around back. I can block well, I have the speed to get around you, and I have the wiggle to make you miss as well. I don't mind lowering my shoulder and meeting the defender head on either."
What do you feel you need to work on before college?
"Everything. No matter how good you think you are or are told you are you can always improve yourself. I don't want to get complacent. I want to improve all aspects of my game. I'll work hard to make myself a better football player."
David was a very easy person to interview. He was very excited to be interviewed and came across as a very open and honest young man. He knows he has a lot to do before his senior year. He has a busy track schedule and he'll be making a decision on which school to attend. We have a time to talk in the very near future about his recruiting. He is one athlete that is liking the recruiting process as he gets a chance to see many different schools and hear what each one has to offer.
