GBOA: WorldWide Renegades vs. Team Breakdown's Shane Connell took in the action at last week's GBOA South Tournament at Norcross High School. The tournament featured 16 of the top teams from around the south. This is a recap of the action from the semifinal game between the WorldWide Renegades and Team Breakdown.

This highly anticipated match-up started out close, but it was all Team Breakdown in this one. With a backcourt of Kenny Boynton and Brandon Knight, one might think that they would take the majority of the shots, but Team Breakdown does a really nice job of playing team basketball. They are well coached and get everyone involved, and that was evident as they ran away with this one.

We got to see the match-up we all wanted early on when Mfon Udofia was guarding Kenny Boynton, and there was some intensity on the court. Kenny took this opportunity to show his all around game by distributing the ball and playing solid defense and scoring when he had an open look. To say that he had his moments is an understatement as he had a couple of athletic dunks on the break, and he knocked down more than one deep three with a hand in his face.

Brandon Knight also looked like one of the top players in his class yet again. The kid runs the court like an Olympic sprinter, and he can jump out of the gym. While these two shined, it was definitely a total team effort by Team Breakdown and everyone played a part.

Keith Clanton displayed a nice all-around game, playing big in the paint, and he showed up big on the boards. Ray Taylor could be even faster from one end to the other than Knight, and he has the heart of a lion although he is vertically challenged. Guillaume Sabour-Pina also displayed his talent in this one. Look for him to start showing up the on radar screen for a number of big time programs in the near future.

The Renegades seemed to be worn down in this one and simply couldn't make the shots when they were there missing a number of gimme's at the rim. It was never close after the mid-point of the first half, but they kept playing hard and never mailed it in. This is a testament to the pride that these guys play with, but Team Breakdown was clicking on all cylinders in this second semi-final match up, and they won in a blowout 90-59.

  • Kenny Boynton- Again showed an all-around good game. Very good shot selection, didn't force his hand. Played excellent defense and set his teammates up for open shots off the drive.
  • Ray Taylor – Kid is short in stature, but he has no fear. Ultra fast from one end to the other and he hit a ton of big 3's.
  • Keith Clanton – A bit overshadowed by Boynton and Knight, but he has game. He is being recruited by some big time programs, and he will end up being a nice addition for someone. Top Stories
