Denzel McCoy is a name many coaches around the nation are already familiar with. The big-time defensive tackle of the class of 2010 already has received many offers including West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Duke, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, and Stanford. He says more are on the way including Georgia Tech, Alabama, and Penn State.

So what does Denzel make of this attention?

"It feels good. I'm getting a lot of hand written letters. Charlie Weis of Notre Dame wrote me one the other day. I grew up liking them. I'll sit down and see who's giving me a lot of mail and then decide about a list. I've already been to the Georgia Tech-Jacksonville State game, UGA-Central Michigan, and the Clemson-NC State game. They were all fun. They all gave me a lot of love. I met all the head coaches."

Denzel will be back at Georgia Tech for the Mississippi State game, then to UGA again for the Alabama game, then to Ole Miss at Alabama, and also plans to see an Auburn night game.

Does he envision an early commitment?

"A lot of people ask me that. It's a possibility. I want to sit down, explore my options, and enjoy this time. I love playing high school football. It's a possibility though."

McCoy is being recruited by some schools as a defensive tackle and some as a defensive end. Does he have a preference?

"I like D-tackle, but D-end wouldn't be bad. Maybe I'd like to play both. That would be cool to learn both responsibilities and do both."

McCoy's Northview HS football team is off to a rough 0-3 start but he says they're getting better every game. "We have a new system, a new coach. Once people start buying in to the new system, we'll start clicking. We're getting better, people are buying in."
