Before questioning could begin, Garry happily announced his first scholarship offer, "the University of South Carolina Gamecocks." Offers should pour in this fall as Garry has some high-level interest. Peters has visited some games already, he talked about each:
Georgia Tech: "I saw their game with Mississippi State. For an ACC school, it was great, really awesome. I sat next to the students. They were just going crazy and really loud. The coaches are really nice and the facilities are awesome. The weight room is ridiculous! Their offense they run, that is nice, that's nice. They should win a lot of games with that. To see that definitely puts in perspective where I want to go. I spoke with one of the coaches and the chaplain Derek Moore."
South Carolina: "I saw them play Georgia. I was down on the field before the game started and the crowd was intense. It was a real good visit. I talked with Coach Cooper, and he said he was gonna come see my tape and visit my school and offer. That's what he did last week after he talked with Coach Spurrier, he called me."
Garry plans to be at Georgia's game with Tennessee this weekend. He also wants to visit Florida State for their game with Florida.
Will Garry go to another Georgia Tech game?
"If they invite me to another game, I'll be there."
So what is important to Garry in recruiting?
"Academics are #1. How far away from home the school is is #2. I want my parents to see me play. Then, it is just about my surroundings at the school."
So he likes Georgia and Georgia Tech a lot then with location being important?
"Oh yeah, they're up there."
Garry wants to commit early before his senior season next year to have his recruiting finished with. He gave a list of favorite schools, a top 6:
What position is Garry being recruited to play?
"Mainly as a cornerback. People don't know this but my passion is to be a wide receiver."
With Garry being a stellar athlete, if Georgia Tech recruited him as a quarterback what would be his reaction?
"I'd do it. I wouldn't mind. I just want to play. I haven't spoken on the phone yet with [Tech]. My coach mainly talks to recruiters for me when they come to my school."
One memory brought up with Garry was his play as a sophomore when Heritage faced region foe Habersham Central. Garry's coach put him at cornerback to go man-to-man with UGA's Tavarres King. King had a record year scoring touchdowns every game. However, Peters was the only player to keep King out of the endzone and held him to just a couple catches.
