Connor Shaw, the starting quarterback for Flowery Branch High School and brother of Georgia Tech quarterback Jaybo Shaw, spoke to Scout.com about his recruitment this evening. Although only a junior, Connor already has one offer from Georgia Tech. However, Connor is receiving a lot of interest from other schools around the Southeast.

Connor, how is your recruiting shaping up thus far?

It really has heated up a lot lately. I do have an offer from Georgia Tech but Vanderbilt, Clemson, and Wake Forest has been showing me a lot of interest lately. I've been receiving a lot of mail and calls from them along with Georgia Tech."

Which team seems to be recruiting you the hardest?

By far Georgia Tech is giving me the most mail and calls. Vandy and Clemson seem to be giving me the most after Tech. Wake is showing a lot of interest too."

Have any other schools started showing interest in you lately?

"As a matter of fact, South Florida has started sending me stuff and the coaches from North Carolina State and Maryland have come by my school to talk to me."

Would you have a top list of schools this early?

"Yes sir I do. Georgia Tech is my number one by far right now with Vandy second, Clemson third and Wake Forest my fourth school. I don't have one that falls into the fifth slot just yet as it is early in my recruiting."

Have you decided on a college major yet?

"In fact I've talked to the coaches at Georgia Tech and they showed me how good the Business Management degree is at Tech. I think if I went there, that would be my major. At any other school it would be an Education Degree for me."

With your brother at Georgia Tech, would that be a plus or drawback if you went there?

"It would be a huge plus in my mind. I promised Jaybo during his last game in high school that it would not be the last time we played together. I'm going to do everything I can to uphold that promise to him."

It sounds like you and Jaybo are real close?

"Yes sir we are. I go to every home game and spend Saturday night with him to show how much I support him. We are very close and playing on the same team would be something we both would really enjoy once again."

So, what else do you have lined up as far as your recruitment is concerned?

"I've been invited to a lot of senior days and invited to some spring practices and other games during this year. I will try to squeeze in a game if I can when Jaybo isn't playing at home or a close road game."

Have you set a time frame as to when you want to commit to a school?

"I have decided that I will make my decision before my senior year of high school starts. I want to play my senior year with zero distractions and will make a firm commitment before my season starts.

Dale's Take:
Connor was a pleasure to talk with. We talked about his recruitment a lot and how much he looks forward to watching Jaybo play and hopefully playing together once again. Connor also knows the value of a good education and has already built a good relationship with the coaches at Georgia Tech. Connor has a clear leader in his eyes and he lets you know how much he looks forward to playing football with his brother again.
