Jonathan Davis - Profile

How has recruiting been going for you lately?

"It has been going great. I have offers from several schools and I have been told that other schools are interested in me as well."

What offers do you have to date?

"I have offers from Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Alabama-Birmingham and Central Florida. My coach says he has been told by some coaches that others may be on the way."

How does the fact that other schools may be close to offering or have expressed interest in you affect your recruiting process?

"Well, I'd like to see what the schools are and how they stack up with the ones that have offered or are recruiting me. I will look at them all and decide from that. Also, taking unofficial and official visits will eliminate some and make some go up in my opinion of them depending on how the visits go and how well I bond with the coaches, recruits, and current players on the team."

Which school is recruiting you the hardest?

"Right now, South Carolina is recruiting me very hard."

Would you consider them your favorite?

"No sir, not at all. All schools are even right now until I get to know them better and see how I fit into their program."

What are you looking for in a school?

"First, they have to have my major. I will also look at graduation rates and how much emphasis the school and coaches put on a student-athlete to get their degree. I really want to have my degree finished by the time my playing days are over at my college."

What will be your major in college?

"I want to go to a school that has a very good Business School. That's important. If a business degree doesn't work out, I will look into Early Childhood Education."

Have you been on any official visits?

"No sir, I have been concentrating on both my senior year of football and taking care of my class work. I plan on taking my five visits after my season is done. Hopefully it's during December so it will not interfere with my class work."

Have you set up any unofficial visits?

"Right now, I have only one set up. I plan on being at Bobby Dodd Stadium next Thursday night to see Georgia Tech take on Miami. That is the only one I have set up at this time."

What's your time-frame for making your college choice?

"Well, to be perfectly honest I could wake up tomorrow morning and say this school is the right one for me or I could wait until I take all my official visits before making a decision. It's all about timing. When the time is right in my mind and gut, I will know and let everyone know."

What are you being recruited to play in college by the various teams?

"Georgia Tech has told me that the decision is where I feel most comfortable playing and where we both feel I will make the most impact on the field. Boston College wants me strictly as a running back and all the other schools are recruiting me as a safety. I have no preference as long as I can get on the field and make a contribution to my team. That is the most important thing."

Are you scheduled to play in any high school all-star games?

"As matter of fact, I just received a letter about the Army All-American game this week and I've been receiving info from the Under Armour game too."

How is your high school team doing?

"We've made it to the playoffs and we are very happy about that. We have a big game Friday night and we hope to win so we can continue all the way to the state title."

Individually, how is your season shaping up?

"On offense I have scored 14 touchdowns. I've caught 3 of them out of the backfield and rushed for the other 11. On defense, we really don't keep individual stats for the most part but I do know I lead the team in tackles."

Dale's Take:

Jonathan was a very easy interview. He has a good sense of humor and is handling the recruiting process the right way. He knows what offers are out there and is listening to what other schools may offer to give them a chance. He will make a decision once he gets that feeling that the one school is the right fit. He mentioned that his relationships with coaches, recruits coming in with him, and current players are very important. I feel he will make a sound decision and once he's made that decision it will be final. Top Stories
