We spoke with Jemea Thomas today to get his reaction about committing to Georgia Tech. Jemea also talked about Fitzgerald's playoff win over Charlton County. Jemea carried the ball 8 times for 93 yards and a touchdown. He was also a force on defense.
When we last talked, you had just committed to Georgia Tech. Are you still firm with that decision?
"Oh yes sir, I am very firm with it. I am a solid verbal to Georgia Tech."
It sounds like you are very happy with that decision?
"Yes sir, I know it's the right one for me. I have a great feeling about my decision."
Have there been any schools trying to get you to change your mind?
A couple of schools have called but I tell them that I am solid to Tech and that I am through with my recruiting."
Rumors had it that Georgia was trying to get in on your recruitment. Is that true?
"They've called but I am not interested in Georgia. I made my decision and I am sticking with it. I am definitely done with my recruiting."
What will you play once you get to Georgia Tech?
"I plan on being a cornerback or there is a possibility I can play safety. Cornerback is the position I'll most likely end up playing and that is fine by me. I just want to contribute and be a part of the team."
Some recruits try to get together and sign their letter of intents at places like ESPNZone. Will you try to do something like that?
No sir, I'll sign mine at my high school. I'd like for my parents to be there when I sign."
Jemea was in a good joking mood and we had a few laughs as we talked about his playoff game and his commitment to Georgia Tech. He is very firm on his decision and has told schools thanks, but no thanks. He's happy where he is going to college. Georgia Tech is picking up a solid football player but most importantly a person with great character.
