Daniel, you finished your season very strong, and received a lot of accolades. What do you think about that?
"It's definitely special," Drummond said, "I've been working for all this for four years. It was a goal of mine to start off with."
Drummond committed on the spot to Georgia Tech when the Yellow Jackets made him the offer at a camp. Arkansas and others had already offered Drummond, but he was always holding out for the hometown offer and working hard to get it.
Other schools would contact him later on but it didn't matter.
"A lot of schools would call me, but I just told them that I was done with recruiting."
Recently, Coach Johnson and other Tech coaches stopped by Flowery Branch high school to visit with Drummond, fellow commit DE Izaan Cross, and QB prospect Conner Shaw.
"The coaches were just talking with us about getting bigger, stronger, faster and that sort of thing. They told me to get ready to run the ball."
Drummond said that he and his family had to cancel an in-home visit because his grandmother became ill. They didn't reschedule because it didn't matter too much.
Daniel has seen the coaches enough and already made his official visit in December.
"The official visit was awesome. I got to meet all the players and hang out with my future teammates. I got to really see Atlanta, that was the best part. It was a lot of fun."
Last year Daniel was involved with weight-lifting competitions and excelled at a national level. He couldn't be with the team this year because of his focus on football but he still does the workouts.
"Before I separated my shoulder I was benching 350. I squat 555."
Are the Tech coaches set on playing Daniel at B-back?
"Yes, they are as of right now. It depends on if I grow. I'm a versatile player so I'll just do whatever happens."
Daniel has been growing a lot this past year, as he is up to 6'3" 245 lb.
What does he think of redshirting?
"I'm not sure. If I can really impact the game, I'd love to play my freshman year. But there are a lot of benefits to redshirting."
There's no telling what the future holds for a hard-working person like Daniel Drummond. Whether it be running the ball for touchdowns or taking down running backs, Daniel will be giving it his best.
