"The visit went really well. I love it!" he said. "I love the atmosphere there and the players. I felt like I belong that's why I picked Georgia Tech."
Hill also was able to participate in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl in Myrtle Beach after New Year's. How did that go?
"It was a great experience. I already knew a lot of the guys. I just tried to do the best that I could do and thankfully my best came out. I had four catches for 111 yards and a touchdown."
Hill said that some of Tech's coaches have been to see him for his basketball games. Head coach Paul Johnson and wide receivers coach Buzz Preston also made an in-home visit with him not long ago. What have they told Stephen about their plans for him?
"They said they're going to change things up a little and throw it more. I have to come in and do my part, of course, and work hard. Wide receivers have to block no matter what but they're planning on using me as a top wide receiver. I'm not going to redshirt. The coaches are planning on that."
Many schools were hoping to secure a commitment from Hill after he decommitted from Central Florida last fall. Tech rival Georgia was one of those schools. Did schools still try and recruit him after his commitment to the Jackets?
Hill also plays for the basketball team at Miller Grove. They're the top team in class AAAA. How's he enjoying the season?
"It's going real well. We've only lost two games. We're looking to win the state championship. It's funny, I'm averaging about three dunks per game this year. Last year, I only had one every now and then it seemed. I'm just playing basketball to keep in shape until track. I run the 300 and do the running long jump. I won the state championship in the running long jump last year and I'm going to try to break the record this year. The record is 25 '6". My best is 24' 1" on an injured leg. I think I can do it."
Stephen is glad that his friend and teammate on the court, highly-rated point guard Mfon Udofia, will be attending the same school.
"Yeah, I'm excited about that. He and [Derrick] Favors will be coming, so that's great."
Tech fans should look out for Hill next season to make an early impact at the receiver position as a freshman. With Hill's work ethic and athleticism, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him starting in his first year on the Flats.
