Connor Shaw - Profile

How has your recruitment been going lately?

"It's been going very well. I picked up an offer today around noon from South Carolina. Coach Spurrier, Coach Mangus (QB coach), and Coach Beamer stopped in my Dad's office today to talk and they called me in and gave me an offer."

What did Coach Spurrier have to say to you?

"I walked in from workouts and had my Under Armour stuff and he said, "Hey Connor I see you have your Under Armour on. You know South Carolina is sponsored by Under Armour". We both got a laugh out of that. He went on to talk about the academics at South Carolina and the quarterback position. He also gave me an invite to South Carolina's Junior Day on February 21st. Other than that, he mostly talked to my Dad."

So do you have any other Junior Day's planned?

"Yes sir, I do. I am going to Georgia Tech's Junior Day on January 31st. I haven't got the exact dates for the ones to Clemson, West Virginia, and Stanford but I know I will be attending them too."

Do you have a top 5 right now?

"Yes sir, I would say that in no particular order that Georgia Tech, Stanford, South Carolina, Clemson and West Virginia are my top five. I can't name a leader as it is way too early to do so."

What has Jaybo talked to you about your recruiting?

"He keeps on telling me to enjoy it and hasn't been putting any pressure on me about my recruiting. He says to enjoy the ride."

Since football is over, what have you been doing?

"We started off season workouts today and that will keep me busy through the summer. Last year I played basketball but I'm not this year. I may run track but I'm not sure just yet. Most likely I will concentrate on my football workouts to be ready for senior year. Sports are not seasonal anymore. Each one seems to have become a year long sport for the athletes."

Dale's Take:

Connor was happy to receive his offer from South Carolina and he is looking forward to attending the Junior Days at each school. When asked about Jaybo, he said Jaybo was very happy at Tech and they have started their workouts and he is ready to compete for the starting quarterback position and that he stays in contact with him. He says Jaybo tells him to do what he feels is the right thing for him and enjoy the last year of his high school and recruiting process.
