Columbus Carver quarterback Devin Burns recently attended Junior Days at UCF and Georgia Tech. Devin talked about his visits to those schools along with his plans to attend additional Junior Days as well as spring practices.

Devin Burns - Profile

Devin, how was the trip to UCF?

"It was okay. It went pretty good. We took a tour of the campus, saw the stadium and the facilities, and had a chance to talk to some of the academic personnel at the school. We then broke down into our positions and talked with the position coaches while our parents talked with Coach O'Leary."

Did you get an offer on the trip?

"No sir, they said they wanted to see more film on me before they would offer."

Have you made any other Junior Day trips?

"Yes sir, I went to the one at Georgia Tech. I really enjoyed that one. I got a chance to talk with Coach Johnson personally on that trip. He's a very cool guy, very down to earth and relates to the recruits very well. We toured the campus there too and had a chance to see their facilities. I really liked the locker room, players lounge, and weight room. Coach Johnson said he would be sending me an offer. I liked this trip a lot."

Any other trips lined up?

"I will be going to Vanderbilt and Maryland very soon."

What schools are recruiting you and the ones you are interested in right now?

"Georgia Tech, UCF, Vandy, Maryland, Arkansas, Duke, and UAB are the ones that have showed me a lot of interest and ones that I like."

How many offers do you have right now?

"I have offers from Maryland, Vandy, Arkansas, and UAB."

Do you plan on attending any of the spring practices?

"Yes sir I sure do. I am going to go to ones at Georgia Tech, Vandy and Maryland. I might make some more but these are ones I plan on going to at this time."

What factors will you use in your decision on a school?

"I'd like to be close to home so my family can come see me play and I can come home from time to time if I need to or just want to come home for a visit. I want to be at a school that I feel I fit in with the players, coaches, students, and teachers. I want a good comfort level at college as I like to be around good people, ones that like to make you push yourself to be better as a person and a player. Academics will also play a part. I will be majoring in Business Management so the school will have to have a good business management degree."

Do you have a time frame on when you want to decide on a school?

"No sir, none at all. I will most likely wait until signing day to make a decision. I want to make all my official visits and use my senior year as a recruiting tool for me. I will sit down and visit after my senior season and then use that time before signing day to make a decision."

What are your measurables?

"I am 6' 2" and weigh 183 pounds. I ran a 4.6 40 at a combine."

How does Carver look for your senior year?

"We look strong. Almost the whole team is coming back and we look to make a strong run in the 3-A region. Our defense should be real good as well as our offense."

Dale's Take:

Devin has made two Junior Day trips and will be making a couple of more very soon. He wants to take in some spring practices to get a good feel of what type of offenses each school runs. He is being recruited to play quarterback by most all of the schools that are recruiting him. Having a big senior year will only increase the interest in this talented quarterback.
